Santa magically creates a Punch and Judy puppet show to the delight of children at a Christmas party. WARNING! Parents may wish to watch this before exposing innocent eyes to the comic brutality of a Punch and Judy puppet show from the late 1940s - including some very non-PC scenes. Punch & Judy professor/historian Geoff Felix describes the film: The value of this film is that it is a record of a performance by George Prentice whose Punch and Judy show achieved great popularity in Variety...

LibriVox recording of Grammar-Land, by M.L. Nesbitt. Read by Kara Shallenberg. In this charming 1877 book of grammar instruction for children, we are introduced to the nine parts of speech and learn about the rules that govern them in Grammar-Land. Judge Grammar is far mightier than any Fairy Queen, for he rules over real kings and queens down here in Matter-of-fact-land. Our kings and queens have all to obey Judge Grammar’s laws, or else they would talk what is called bad grammar; and then,...

"The Inventor Crazybrains and his Wonderful Airship" (Le Dirigeable Fantastique ou le Cauchemar d'un Inventeur) A Jules Verne-like flying airship soars the skies with floating mermaids before out of control fireworks put an end to the crazy inventor's dreams. Unlike the Technicolor wonders that would come decades later, this Georges Méliès film from 1905 achieved its color the old-fashioned way; they were painted on the film by hand.

Anita Bryant (famous Florida orange juice and anti-gay spokeswoman) narrates this film that tries to simplify its drug abuse message with an analogy of kids putting together a contraption out of Lego blocks. Although the metaphors often don't make sense, the visual impact of the film is stunning and could easily be quite popular with individuals consuming illicit drugs. Also, like most anti-drug films, this could be a tempting introduction to drugs for some youths yearning to escape their...

Buster's handmade boat, The Damfino, is finished and is, of course, too large to get through the basement door. When he drives off with it in tow, the side of his house, then the whole thing, collapses. At the harbor he rides the boat out only to have it sink beneath him. The rest is a series of adventures he and his family have with the restored boat. This funny short has some good subtile gags plus the usual slapstick and gadgets.

Eveready Harton in Buried Treasure, what is said to be the first  pornographic cartoon. Eveready Harton in Buried Treasure, also known as Eveready Harton, Eveready, Buried Treasure, or Pecker Island, is an adult animated cartoon short film made in the United States in 1929, depicting the unlikely adventures of the perpetually aroused title character with a woman, a man, a donkey, and a cow. Supposedly, U.S. film labs refused to process the film, and it had to be developed in Cuba. The artists...

Executive producers, Paul Burnford, Jack Stoops Variation in dark and light is called value. Value can be a natural part of any object, or it can be created by controlling the way in which light strikes the object. Artists can vary value in color by adding black or white, or by selecting contrasting dark or light color values. "No planet was safe!" There are two ways to appreciate these movies. The first is to have a full, open bottle of bourbon in hand while viewing them. The second is to appreciate the freaky, random confluence of events that brought them into being. The first thing to appreciate is that South Korea embargoed foreign movies, especially animation, for a lengthy period of time. This meant that not only was there a dearth of programming for SK TV, it also meant that native studios could rip...

Anonymous Bosch's first album, recorded in 1987 on very basic equipment with only a Roland MT-32 and an Amiga computer for company, Bosch spun this their first yarn and kept it a secret for darn near 20 years, with only a select few fans keeping it to themselves. The title is inspired by the mashup comicbook cover of the original tape, which replaces the dialogue in a 50s comic strip with nonsense; the title jokingly refers to the notion of Charles Manson getting "messages" through...

This tape is from April 1987. It is mostly my grandmother and her siblings and their spouses sitting around the living room calling out hymns and playing them. I don't know whose idea it was to record this, or whose tape recorder it was. For almost 20 years it sat in the living room until my mom brought it back for me to put on CD-R. These hymns are unrehearsed and possibly sung from memory. This is what happens when tradition, technology, and spontaneity all come together after a big meal and...
